Poly Parent Morning - Thank you to everyone who attended
This morning we welcomed our parents and carers into school for another Poly Parent Morning. With refreshments available we kicked off the morning with a warm welcome from our Head of School Ms Williams.
Ms Smith our Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead led a session with our parents and carers looking at what we can do to make our students feel safer.
Taking inspiration from Professor Carlene Firmin and her work on Contextual Safeguarding, we are currently undertaking a large project to understand how safe our students feel in their various contexts. This includes different areas and spaces in school, the areas surround the school in Thamesmead and in Woolwich as well as in their online worlds. We have started to ask students to take part in mapping exercises where they rate these areas in terms of how safe they feel and today asked parents to take part too. We asked them how they think their daughter feels in these areas and on certain websites/apps so that we can compare the results. We will continue to do this with more students and parents in the coming weeks and months.
Once this piece of work is complete, we will be sharing it with our school and wider community as well as local stakeholders such as Greenwich Council, the local police, shop owners, TfL and Peabody.
We'd like to thank those that took part today and look forward to involving more of you in this work in coming half-term.
Thank you to Ms Brown - Pastoral Administrator & Student Support for coordinating this wonderful event today.
We also welcomed a special guest Raquelle into school for the morning from the Families Information Service who was sharing free advice and support for families in Greenwich with children and young people aged 0-19 (or up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disability).
